IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Introduction – Weekends

Weekends

  1. Do weekends appeal to you?
Yes, I absolutely love weekends because I get to spend more time with my family members and also take a break from my weekday routine.
  2. How do you typically spend your weekends? Do you study or work?
I engage in various activities during weekends. Sometimes I relax at home, go out with friends for a movie, attend to pending work, or assist my mother with household chores.
  3. In your country, do men and women typically engage in the same activities on weekends (or during their free time)?
Gender differences are diminishing nowadays. Generally, both men and women engage in similar activities on weekends.
  4. Do you plan your weekends?
Not always, but sometimes when I want to go out with friends, I prefer to have things planned.
  5. When do you spend time with your family?
I spend evenings with my family. We watch TV together, have dinner together, and go for walks together.
  6. What did you do last weekend?
Last weekend, I went for a movie with my friends and had dinner at a restaurant. It was great fun.
  7. What do people in your hometown (or in your country) typically do on weekends?
People engage in various activities on weekends. Some go for outings, some spend time at home with family, and others visit relatives.
  8. What are your plans for next weekend?
I haven’t made any plans for the next weekend yet, but maybe I’ll go out with my family for a movie.
  9. Is there anything new you’d like to try on weekends?
I would like to learn a new language on weekends. As part of my plan to go to Canada, French would be a good option for me. My relatives live in Montrรฉal, and it is a Francophone area, so learning French would be beneficial.
  10. Do you enjoy working on weekends?
No, I donโ€™t enjoy working on weekends. I prefer to spend time with my family and friends.
  11. Do you believe employees should be required to work on weekends?
No, definitely not. I believe there should be no compulsion for employees to work on weekends; it should be their choice. If they want to earn more, they should be allowed to work.
  12. Do you think weekends are more important to you now than when you were a child?
Yes, weekends are more important to me now than when I was a child. In my childhood, all days felt like weekends, so I did not give weekends much importance. However, today I look forward to weekends.
