THE IELTS BRIDGE

Describe an occasion when you lost your way.

Question – Describe an occasion when you lost your way.
You should say:
– Where you were
– What happened
– How you felt
– And explain how you found your way

  • I excel at navigating and rarely lose my way, but there have been instances where I got lost in unfamiliar places.
  • Recently, I went to congratulate my friend on their engagement in their new suburban home after their father’s retirement.
  • Although I hadn’t visited their new house before, I decided to rely on the navigation app by inputting their address.
  • This decision turned out to be a mistake as the app, not updated for the newly built suburb, directed me onto a deserted mud road.
  • Despite a gut feeling that I might be heading in the wrong direction, I blindly trusted the app, marking my second mistake.
  • I continued until reaching a dead end, and even then, I wasn’t worried, assuming I could call my friend for guidance.
  • However, there was no mobile phone connectivity on that road, leaving me unable to make a call.
  • Attempting to backtrack, I took a wrong turn and found myself even more lost, feeling fear for the first time, especially as it was getting dark.
  • Eventually, I stumbled upon a roadside tea shop, where the owner, while unaware of the specific address, knew my friend’s father.
  • With his help, I finally reached their address and escaped the predicament.
  • Although I still use navigation maps, I’ve learned not to overly rely on them as I did before.
