Pro athletes who command high salaries include Tiger Woods, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo. The ongoing media coverage of these fantastic deals is the cause of them. It is true, though, that their contributions to society are not as great as those of scientists and doctors.
The most successful sports professionals are those who put in a lot of work in their fields. They put all of their energy into making sure that they and their teams succeed. Because they are rare, those who possess true talent in their field are valuable. Furthermore, a player’s brief career is put to the test by the intense competition on the field during that time. There is no privacy in their lives and they are under constant media pressure. Thus, this can also account for the enormous profits.
Professional athletes do not, however, make greater contributions to society. By providing medical care to the ill and injured, other well-known professionals like doctors greatly benefit society. Additionally, scientists that work on new inventions and climate change make greater contributions to society. They must have a lot of money if we agree with these points. Sports professionals’ pay isn’t, however, based on how much of a contribution they make to society.
In my opinion, the enormous compensation that athletes receive is more commensurate with their achievements than the enormous incomes of Hollywood celebrities. This further emphasizes how much more important and valuable sports are compared to other careers and accomplishments.
