IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Introduction – Flowers

Flowers

  1. What types of flowers are familiar to you?
India, with its tropical climate, supports the growth of various flowers such as Rose, Jasmine, Marigold, Lotus, Sunflower, Dahlia, and more.
  2. Do certain flowers hold special significance in India?
The Lotus, India’s national flower, symbolizes purity and is considered auspicious in Hindu culture. It is prominently featured in depictions of many Hindu gods and goddesses, either as a seat or held in their hands. Lotus is used in worship and offered to deities during religious ceremonies. Another example is Jasmine, revered in India as a symbol of love, purity, hope, and optimism. Jasmine garlands play a role in Indian wedding ceremonies, and brides often wear them in their hair.
  3. Have you engaged in planting flowers?
I have planted numerous rose bushes in my backyard. Apart from their aesthetic appeal, they are easy to maintain and can endure hot summer weather. Additionally, I have cultivated Jasmine flowers in containers on my front porch, appreciating their sweet fragrance as I relax nearby.
  4. Have you ever gifted flowers to someone?
Every year on my parents’ anniversary, I send them flowers. My mother, with a fondness for flowers, likes placing them by the kitchen window. I have also presented flowers to friends and relatives on special occasions such as birthdays and weddings.
