IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Introduction – Environmental Protection

Environmental Protection

  1. Would you be interested in working for a company focused on environmental protection?
Certainly, I am keen on working for an eco-friendly company that has embraced sustainable practices and adopted a green approach. Our planet is grappling with numerous environmental challenges, including climate change, global warming, air and water pollution, and waste disposal. Natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, and cyclones have become increasingly common in recent decades. It is imperative for both companies and individuals to actively take measures to safeguard our environment.
  2. How can individuals contribute to environmental protection?
Individuals can play a pivotal role in environmental protection by adopting various practices to reduce their carbon footprint:
    1) Use reusable cloth bags instead of single-use plastics.
    2) Practice recycling and composting.
    3) Unplug household appliances when not in use.
    4) Engage in tree planting.
    5) Opt for local transportation over private cars.
    6) Consider biking to work or college if feasible.
    7) Choose eco-friendly products.
    8) Practice water conservation.
  3. Do you believe you have taken sufficient steps to protect the environment?
I acknowledge that I haven’t done enough, and there is room for improvement. While I have initiated small changes at home, such as recycling, reducing food waste, and avoiding plastics, I plan to implement more impactful measures. For instance, I aim to start carpooling with colleagues instead of driving alone to work. Additionally, I aspire to install solar panels for my house and invest in energy-efficient appliances.
  4. Is environmental protection education included in school curricula?
Yes, environmental education is an integral part of formal education in Indian schools, mandated through a Supreme Court judgment in 2003. Recognizing that children are the future, it is crucial to instill awareness about environmental issues at a young age, shaping them to lead eco-friendly lives.
