While a portion of the enrolled individuals aspires to acquire specific skills for their dream jobs, the majority seeks general knowledge and skills to enhance competitiveness in the job market. Therefore, I firmly advocate for educational institutions to tailor their curricula, providing prospective workers with the essential professional training needed to refine skills specific to their fields.
This approach is supported by several compelling arguments. In the contemporary job landscape, tasks are highly specific, demanding employees to meet all requirements. Upon graduation, individuals should be ready to shoulder full responsibility for job-related duties, equipped with the skills and knowledge to handle challenging tasks. Drawing from personal experience, I had to take on a part-time teaching position immediately after graduating from the Faculty of Philology. Despite my theoretical knowledge, the day-to-day demands of the job were overwhelming.
Conversely, the reality is that many jobs require employees to be adept at multitasking and proficient in completing projects on time. Large organizations prefer hiring individuals qualified for multiple roles within their scope, emphasizing the need for well-rounded professionals. To meet industry demands, universities must elevate their standards, providing students with diverse coursework and experiences.
In conclusion, I argue for higher education to adopt a more content-specific approach, ensuring graduates receive the most efficient and high-quality preparation. Professionals can then leverage their academic background not only as a launchpad for their careers but also as a lifelong source of income.
